Packing a Prison Bag
If you do need to prepare and pack a bag prior to a sentencing hearing, the question that inevitably arises is; what can I take in my prison bag?
The following list contains permitted items that you can pack in your bag prior to your sentencing hearing:
- Underwear and Socks
- A Dressing Gown
- Clothes – be sure to take items to keep warm such as sweaters or sweatshirts
- Gloves and Scarf
- A Towel
- Flip Flops
- Earplugs (if you are someone who likes it quiet, these are a must)
- Two Pairs of trainers
- Toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste and deodorant (Aerosol Sprays or Alcohol based products are not permitted)
- An electric shaver (razors are not permitted)
- Envelopes, Writing Paper, Pens, Pencils and Stamps
- Photos of your loved ones
- Money that can be put into your Prison Account should you need to purchase items (Maximum £75)
- A watch with a value of £50 or less
- Your Wedding Ring
- An address Book
- A Calendar
- Books
- Puzzle Games such as crosswords and word searches
- A CD Player or Stereo
The processing time in prison, from the date of your sentenced can be a lengthy, therefore it is imperative that you pack as essential items, otherwise you could be waiting a while for friends and family to send in these items.
